The Origins of Carbonara
From Rome to Your Table
If you’re craving Italian in Fulham that feels like a journey to Southern Italy, our signature Scialatielli Mare & Amore is the dish to try. Known in Naples as Scialatielli ai Frutti di Mare, this seafood pasta is a true celebration of the Amalfi Coast, prepared with passion here at Amore & Limoncello.
From Naples to Fulham: The Story of Scialatielli
This unique pasta shape was created in 1978 by Chef Enrico Cosentino on the Amalfi Coast. Its short, thick ribbons are rustic and hearty, perfect for soaking up rich seafood sauces. The name comes from the Neapolitan words scialare (“to enjoy”) and tiella (“pan”), reflecting the joy of cooking and sharing food.
Mare & Amore – A Dish of Sea and Love
At our Fulham restaurant, we prepare Scialatielli in the traditional Neapolitan style, highlighting the flavors of the Mediterranean. The name Mare & Amore is our tribute to two things that define Italian cuisine: the bounty of the sea and the passion of the kitchen.
Ingredients That Bring the Coastline to Your Plate
We stay faithful to the classic recipe with fresh, handmade scialatielli pasta and a medley of seafood:
King prawns
Palourde clams
Mussels
Calamari & baby squid
Sweet datterino tomatoes
Fresh parsley & basil
Garlic & a hint of chili
Extra virgin olive oil
White wine
The shellfish are gently steamed, the sauce built with tomatoes, garlic, and olive oil, and finally everything is brought together with the pasta to create a glossy, fragrant dish that’s festive, indulgent, and unforgettable.
